“I will doom scroll until my eyes go dry, swell, and I fall asleep and die.” is a collaborative multimedia display of our skewed digital personas. The power we give social media influences and alters our ability to think, connect and engage. The exhibition contemplates technology and contemporary capitalist culture. This gathering of diverse mediums is an expression of curiosity playing with different simulated versions of our bodies. This trio is embracing their collective disorientation, using elements of surrealism and absurdity.
For Emerald, the Asian femme is a multifaceted identity representing fears of abandonment and loneliness. Grappling with cultural detachment, Emerald represents the Asian femme figure as a lost body yearning for more and more. The caricature figures she depicts are satirical symbols making fun of the absurd influence of Western politics and culture. She considers how her physical body relates to the landscape and materials she surrounds herself with while posing herself as an unreliable narrator. She depicts playful imagery, using humour and symbolism to better understand the void she feels as an imposter
